FIRE RELIEF DONATIONS POUR IN
Dear Mill Valley Soccer Club Community:

The MVSC Soccer Community is AMAZING! Your tremendous turnout on Saturday donating and volunteering in support of families who have been impacted by the fires in Napa and Sonoma was nothing short of inspirational.  Dozens of MVSC parents and children volunteered to coordinate, collect donations, meticulously sort and label clothing, build and pack boxes and load up trucks for delivery.  Over 200 boxes of donated items and over $14,000 in gift cards came in through the MVSC community.

Santa Rosa United received about 20% of the donations and those are being distributed to an estimated 25 SRU families who have lost their homes.

The bulk of the donations and gift cards MVSC collected have been delivered to Empire Soccer Club in Santa Rosa.  Empire runs both recreational and competitive soccer programs with over 1400 players in their club.  They estimate that at least 100 families in their club have lost their homes in the Tubbs fire.   MVSC volunteers met with about ten of Empire's Board members, all of whom have been evacuated during the fires and some of whom are still not back in their homes. They spent a couple hours with MVSC volunteers moving and organizing boxes to effectively distribute supplies and gift cards to their affected families.  They were overwhelmed by the generosity of the MVSC community. So are we!

The recovery will take months for many of these families.  We will remain in touch with the Clubs in these communities to identify what they need and coordinate additional efforts as the situation evolves.

For those still wishing to make on-line donations directly to the impacted soccer community, please consider the Norcal Premier League Fundraising Drive.

Thank you for your tremendous generosity.

10/18 - Practices Resume

MVSC RESUMES NORMAL PRACTICE SCHEDULE on 10/18.

On Wednesday, as of Noon, the AQI has dropped to 59, in the low-Moderate range.

As such, all teams may resume their normal practice schedule.  Coaches are encouraged to focus on low-intensity trianing, with minimal wind sprints.  Parents who have concerns about the air quality for their children should not feel compelled to send the child to practice.

We will monitor the AQI throughout the day on a daily basis.  Should the AQI rise above 100 prior to scheduled practices, we will cancel practices immediately.
